Somerset Christian School (SCS) offers three day, four day, or five day Pre-Kindergarten programs from 8:00 am to 11:30 am for children who are four (or five) years old and potty-trained.

This Kindergarten readiness program includes the basics like the alphabet, numbers, colors, and seasons, in addition to daily Bible lessons and activities. Ms. Yoder, with over 20 years' experience, uses a variety of methods including learning centers, free play, and calendar time to teach important concepts and to share the love of Christ.

Students in Kindergarten - Fifth grades are in self-contained classrooms with teachers who totally love the Lord. All teachers are certified by the state of Pennsylvania and hold at least a Bachelor's degree. In 2014, we took a strong stand on the importance of reading with the implementation of a Guided Reading program. In one year, we have seen dramatic results in comprehension and fluency in all subjects, not just Reading.

Beginning in First grade, all students are presented with a laptop which teachers use to incorporate technology, research topics, keyboarding assignments, etc. Textbooks came from a variety of publishers, but all embedded with a Christian worldview of education. Core course studies include Reading, English, Spelling, History, Math, Science and Bible.

Our Middle School students have probably the toughest schedules. Not only do they have all the core courses of English/Literature, Science, Math, History, Geography, and Bible, but they also have Chorus and Pre-Spanish classes. At this stage in their education, we strive to introduce them to a variety of experiences so as to expose them to many career paths.

At the High School level, the focus turns to graduation requirements. Our students can choose from a variety of courses in Science, Math, History, Geography, plus many electives including Music Appreciation, Chorus, Family & Consumer Science and Foreign Languages. English/Literature and Bible are required core subjects taught every year.
